A hybrid genre is the combination of two or more main genres such as that of Romance and Comedy fused together to form a 'hybrid genre' in this case that of the 'Rom-Com' genre films such as 'Bridget Jones' and '(500) Days Of Summer' are both examples of the 'Rom-Com' genre. In most respects almost all films are hybrid. The purpose behind a hybrid film is to achieve a higher audience level and therefore gain a higher success rate and therefore larger profits.
